I am just interested in the language not the politics and certainly not the statistics. Have any new words been invented? At first I would assume 'Covid' but thinking about the 19 after the proper noun I now just think that my scientific knowledge is lacking and there must be another 18 'covids'. I know for a fact that 'Corona' is not a neologism. I have sipped many a chilly 'Corona' whilst sitting in the sun and back in the day there used to be a Corona man who delivered Cream Soda, Ginger Beer and Cola to my nan's house. He was just like a milkman but for pop! Healthy eating destroyed his livelihood or maybe it was the supermarkets. Anyway I digress. If we are thinking of 'Covid' lexis then it has to be 'unprecedented times', 'new normal' and my particular favourite 'bubble'. Brilliant examples of semantic change! OMG I forgot 'furlough', well it seems it is not only missionaries and the military that take a leave of absence now. So on that note time to resume my 'lockdown' Netflix binge, although I am hoping that 'lockdown' has ameliorated as I do not remember causing any riot or disturbance which would need me to be locked in a cell. Who knows?

Not forgetting the word, "covidiot." It's a good portmanteau. :)
