Death in Paradise

Yet again I appear to be analysing the innocent mutterings of others. I recently visited the beautiful island of Guadeloupe, choosing a tour of the waterfall and tropical gardens over the more popular trip to see film locations of the aforementioned crime series. Whilst waiting patiently to join the buses a friendly cruise traveller suggested that there were probably more organised trips on this island as it was so dangerous. I just smiled and thought crickey she must really think that there are weekly murders to be solved by a slightly eccentric British detective. Let's face it I live in an area where both Midsommer murders and Morse were filmed and I often fear for my safety when wondering the countryside! Or B do I know that there is such a thing as fiction? Anyway I started to wonder about 20 minutes later when our bus guide advised us to look to the left so that we could see the famous writer, Maryse Conde, who had died the previous day. There was a spilt second where I expected to see the fresh corpse of a Noble prize winner on the side of the road before I realised that it was a muriel. Just by chance she had passed away at the admirable age of 90 on 2nd April 2024, hopefully somewhere safe. Now I see how easily misunderstandings can occur.
