Paris for the weekend

I realise that this is rather late as I went to Paris at the end of June but hey that's the life of a teacher! Thinking ahead I am seriously investigating all locations both national and international which are easily accessible for a weekend, even allowing for the new normal delays or cancellations, which obviously includes the magnificent French capital.

Really easy check in at St Pancras even though our train changed configuration last minute which required new boarding passes. So much for going paperfree but tip to the wise, speak to a real person as we got on the earlier train with minimal faff as no worry about liquids having to be in the tiniest of plastic bags.

Staying opposite Gare du Nord enables you to see the seedier side of the city and gives you a great location to walk to the main attractions the next morning and the option to take the metro if you are tired, definitely on the way home.

After many years we decided to revisit Le Louvre, even with advance booking the queue is a chore but worth it to see the tiny grumpy Mona Lisa through the camera lenses of hundreds of tourist cameras. Le Petit Palais was much more sedate and the Picasso museum was interesting but not overwhelming. Even in the rain Sacre Coeur is always worth a visit for the views across the city.

A quick trip to a boulangerie is compulsory but I am not going to tell you my favourite sweet treat, let's just say you'll be nun the wiser!

#Eurostar back on the Sunday, nice and simple.
